Private Security Trends to Watch This Year
Guard work is changing fast. Clients expect proof of every patrol, cameras that think, and officers who can do more than stand at a door. Here are the four shifts we see on our own posts — and how Sentrix answers each one.
1. Remote monitoring behind every post
Lone officers are increasingly backed by a control room that watches the same cameras. When our guard walks the east fence, an operator watches the west gate. Cover overlaps instead of leaving gaps.
2. GPS-verified patrols as standard
Clients no longer accept "all quiet" on trust. Check-in tags, timed rounds and morning maps show exactly where officers walked and when. Transparency has become the price of the contract.
3. Access control moves to phones
Badges still work, but phone credentials and temporary QR passes now handle visitors and contractors. Our lobby officers run both systems side by side during the changeover.
4. Officers as first responders
Medical events outnumber break-ins on most sites. First-aid and AED training is now part of every Sentrix induction — because the nearest responder is usually the guard.
